Who is neck lift surgery for?
Neck lift surgery is typically performed on individuals with excessive sagging skin and/or prominent wrinkles and folds in the lower face and neck area.
This procedure is particularly beneficial for men and women who have lost significant amounts of weight and are left with excess skin in the neck area or those who have undergone natural ageing and wish to reduce the appearance of sagging skin.
How is neck lift surgery performed?
During this procedure, a surgeon will address the area behind the ears and/or below the chin to access the underlying muscles and tissue of the patient’s neck.
Excess fat and skin are carefully removed from around your chin, jawline, neck, and collarbone before being stitched up with dissolvable sutures.
The next step involves tightening up any lax muscles with a light-guided surgical suture system to help further support and refine the area.
This system consists of an illuminated suture rod that is mapped out beneath your skin to help create a more defined facial structure and youthful lower face contour.
Once these steps are complete, any remaining incisions are sealed with additional sutures before being covered with bandages or dressings.
How do a full facelift and neck lift differ?
A full facelift typically involves making incisions from the temple around the ear to the hairline at the back of the neck. In contrast, a neck lift only requires incisions around the ears and possibly behind them.
Does Platysmaplasty improve my jawline?
Yes, it does!
A neck lift procedure is designed to improve the appearance of the neck area and jawline, although it cannot create an entirely new jawline.
It can help to define a sagging jawline by removing excess fat from the area.
Will I be bruised and swollen?
Swelling and bruising should reduce after a full week after the procedure.
